The artist used loose, expressive brush strokes and a vibrant palette, which gives the piece a lot of personality and movement.  The soft blending of colors in the tail feathers—those greens, pinks, and blues are unexpected but work beautifully. The red comb and wattle contrast nicely with the golden and earthy tones of the body, drawing attention to the rooster’s head and eye.
